The VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies (qualification number 610/2399/1) is the recognised starting point for anyone who wants to enter the aesthetics industry through a regulated route.
It is designed for learners with no formal beauty therapy background who wish to gain the knowledge and skills needed to progress onto Level 4 and higher qualifications in advanced aesthetic therapies.
Who is this course for?
Experienced aesthetics practitioners who do not hold a Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification, as well as complete beginners, career changers and non-medics. This course is the required starting point for progression, regardless of how many years of experience a practitioner already has.
What you will learn?
The course combines Level 2 and Level 3 units to give you the essential underpinning knowledge for advanced study. Mandatory areas include:
• Maintain health and safety in the salon
• Skin analysis and facial skincare
• Consultation and client care
• Anatomy, physiology and pathology
• Electrical science
You will develop skills in professional consultation, skin assessment, treatment preparation, client communication and safe working practices.
How the course is delivered?
Blended learning. The majority of the theory is completed online with study materials and supporting content. Supervised practical training, portfolio work and assessments take place at our Marylebone training centre.
Practical requirements
Learners complete a portfolio of basic facial treatments including full consultation and skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, steaming, extraction where appropriate, facial massage, mask application and aftercare. A minimum of six treatments including consultation is required for assessment. These are performed on real models under supervision in a controlled environment.
Assessment
Assessment includes practical observations, portfolio evidence, case studies and external theory examinations, in line with VTCT Skills (ITEC) requirements. Successful completion leads to the VTCT Skills (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate.

Progression
This qualification is the gateway to Level 4 (such as the VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies for Skin Rejuvenation), Level 5 and ultimately Level 7 pathways.
It is widely recognised by insurers and employers as a solid regulated foundation.

• No prior beauty or aesthetics qualification required
Payment

The remaining balance can then be spread across monthly repayments ranging from 6 to 18 months, depending on the length of the course you choose.

Do I need any previous qualifications?

What can I do after completing this?
You can progress to our VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Therapies for Skin Rejuvenation (microneedling and superficial peels) and further levels.
Will this help with insurance later?
This Level 3 certificate is the recognised foundation that allows you to progress to Level 4 qualifications, which are commonly required by insurers for advanced treatments should any new regulation come into force.
